THE MOST DREADED SHOT

How often do you hear the comment “I missed four putts of no more than a half metre!” Then, “I concentrated on the line. I was careful not to look up and peek at the ball. I had no negative thoughts just kept telling myself to keep the putter blade square.” The comments are self-diagnosis.

The golfer was thinking too much about the fundamentals in the tournament rather than on the practice green to achieve a good consistency. Putting must become automatic. Many golfers get too involved in the process instead of thinking of the goal of the ball into the bottom of the cup.

Failure in the short putts is because the average golfers does not practice them enough. In social games there are always the “gimme” putts. Much better to putt them all and not play under the illusion that you will always get them in.
